“The Sociology of Sport” examines sport as it impacts upon the various social institutions: culture, economics, education, family structure, politics, and religion. Additionally, the undercurrents of society (class conflict, drugs, gender issues, and racism) will be examined. The media for this examination will be videos/DVDs and novels possessing sports themes and articles pertinent to the ongoing discussion. Hopefully, this examination will result in a better understanding of sport and society.
