Professional educator with 20+ years of experience in undergraduate teaching and student affairs, including career development and student employment services, in a private, liberal arts college environment.  Additional experience in residence life and orientation.  Strong oral and written communication, organizational, marketing, and management skills.  Proficient in the use of technology to advance the academic and career goals of students.  Familiar with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Front Page.

EDUCATION

MA, Education (Counseling and Guidance). The University of Texas at San Antonio, 1983.  GPA: 4.0/4.0.  Have completed an additional 12 hours of counseling beyond the MA, and additional graduate hours in Latin American literature and history.

BA, Spanish.  The University of Maryland, 1973.  GPA: 3.76/4.0.  Elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.

Responsible for total operation of Student Employment Office, including Federal, Texas, and institutional on- and off-campus work-study programs and internships.  Deliver career development services to freshmen and sophomores.

Accomplishments:

Created new Student Employment Office by expanding and reorganizing the existing work-study programs
-Implemented evaluation process for student employees
-Instituted yearly Student Employment Job Fair Brought work-study program into compliance with Federal regulations

Director of Career Services  (1981-98)
Responsible for total operation of Career Services Office, including preparation and administration of the budget, maintenance of the Career Resource Room, and career development programming for undergraduate students.

Accomplishments:
-Launched Orientation program for nontraditional students
-Developed peer advising system
-Created database for maintaining alumni records
-Instituted community service internship program
-Collaborated with faculty to organize annual Majors Day program

Assistant Dean of Students  (1995-97)
Supervisory responsibilities included the areas of career development, residence life, orientation, and campus judicial system.  LAN manager for the Student Affairs Office.  Produced student handbook and statistical reports.  Acted as Chief Student Affairs Officer in the absence of the Dean of Students.

Co-supervised 88-person residence hall.

 Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies  (1981 – 1999)
 Taught undergraduate classes in Career Development.  Have also taught courses in Spanish and English as a Second Language at the college level.
