Okay, okay, okay...c'mon now...have a sense of humor!

Many of my business students ask me why they have to take so many liberal arts courses to earn a business degree. I'll try to explain...

1. In case you just woke up in your dorm room and are wholly unaware of your surroundings; not knowing what time, day, month or year it is or you are having difficulty remembering your name; or you simply just haven't had that second cup of coffee yet...allow me to assist. You are attending Schreiner University; a LIBERAL ARTS university in Kerrville, Texas. That should be your first clue...  

2. Business professionals want to hire smart, well-rounded, multi-talented, versatile, multi-taskable, articulate people (whew!). A liberal arts education "rounds" you out for that purpose.

3. Knowing something about everything comes in handy at corporate cocktail parties and business dinners (which makes you look smarter than your non-Liberal Arts trained peers), and it might get you to that $$$ BIG PROMOTION $$$ faster than you would have...had you NOT had a Liberal Arts education.

4. Despite strong campus rumors to the contrary, the SU School of Professional Studies is not a conservative think tank. There is room for a wide variety of opinion and discourse. A Liberal Arts education is not going to hurt you in business. So, relax, and enjoy your diverse education!
