Dr. Mark David Woodhull (The Old Gringo)

My critics say this former
faculty picture "scared"
my students too much.
What?
Student 'fraidy-cats? At Schreiner University? Home of the rough-tough
Mountaineers?
Not
likely! Not MY students!
Well,
maybe a wee-bit during
final exams...
Born in Akron,
Ohio on October 17, 1952.

Now You Know Who Dr. Summerlin Got His Bow-Tie Dress Style Influence From...
Moved to Crystal
Lake, Illinois outside of
Chicago.

Always Smil'n...Teeth
or no Teeth

A Born Global Manager (a little
light reading back at my crib)
Moved to
Cali, Colombia
in South America where I developed a passion
for Latin American culture and for playing soccer (not jumping rope).

Soccer Practice in
Cali, Colombia,
South America
I graduated from high school at Colegio Bolivar in Cali, Colombia,
South America.

Look! He had hair then!
My family moved from
Cali, Colombia
to Mexico City D.F., Mexico

Mexico City:
Parents (Ralph & Ruth), Brother (Barry), Sisters (Nancy & Lisa)
I returned to the United
States to attend Kent
State University.
After discovering that a college education is not all girls, beer, pizza and
sports, I found myself in the U.S. Air Force. I spent a career in the
military and saw the world, (sometimes more than I wanted to see).
From hot steamy jungles...

Counter-Drug Operations in Colombia
...to frozen, desolate,
wastelands...I saw it all.

Frozen Solid at the South Pole
(my alma mater Missouri
Western State University ball cap in hand)
I spent most of my Air Force career
as a fearless aircrew warrior aboard the mighty C-130 Hercules, where...
...I ate a lot of dirt and dust...

A C-130 arriving at Club Mud
....helped fight forest fires...

C-130 saving the chipmunks

C-130 dropping fire
retardant...is that cool, or what?
...ate MORE dirt and dust...

C-130 doing the dirt dance
...dropped a lot of real important
stuff out of the sky to real important people...

Heads up! Beans and bullets come'n down!
...boogied with the world's finest....

The Boot Scoot'n
Boogie Boys
...did my job SO well that they
sent me to the Pentagon (aka The Five-Sided
Nuthouse)...for 11 years!
(But I escaped).

The...(drum roll)...Pentagon
I retired from the Air Force and moved to Key Biscayne (Miami),
Florida where
I worked for three corporations
following my retirement from the military.

A view of Miami from Key
Biscayne
I worked for Heil Environmental Industries,
Ltd. as regional sales manager
for Africa, the
Middle
East, and South
Asia.

I left Heil (I miss the frequent
flyer miles) and went to work for CompUSA Corporate as a
account
executive in corporate, government, and export sales of
computer networks and
computer technology.

I left CompUSA Corporate and went to work for DeVry,
Inc. as Director of Keller Graduate School of
Management and acting
director of Becker-Conviser CPA Revue in Miami.

I left DeVry
University and began
pursuing my Ph.D. in Business Administration at Touro
University
International. My focus is on globalization and cross-cultural
managerial relational studies. I graduated in the
2006. I was also appointed as a part-time
Assistant
Professor
of Business Administration at Touro
University
International in January 2005, teaching online to undergraduate and graduate students around
the world.

I left Miami (and my Speedo)
behind and settled initially in
Bandera, Texas,
then Poteet, Texas,
before planting
roots in Boerne,
Texas
(20 miles north of San Antonio in beautiful Texas Hill Country).
While slaving away on my doctoral studies, I worked
for Nielsen Media Research, Inc. as a field researcher. These are the good people who bring you the Nielsen
Television ratings! Great company!

Schreiner
University
offered me a full-time teaching position in August of 2001 and recently an appointment as
a
Assistant Professor of Business Administration in
Kerrville,
Texas...and gosh...I'm still here!
I teach marketing, management, and international business courses and direct the business
research
program.

In addition to my full-time teaching at
Schreiner
University, I taught from
the Fall of 2004 to the Summer of
2006 as a Lecturer I, Adjunct Professor of Management, at the
University
of Texas at San
Antonio. I taught
international management, strategic management, and
organizational design courses to undergraduate and
graduate students.

I'm married to a long tall Texan; Karen D. Woodhull.
Karen is a RN-BSN cardiology/oncology nurse.
Nurse Karen is now a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) graduate student at
The University of Texas Health Science Center at
San Antonio. She will graduate in May 2009. At my age, it helps to have a cardiac nurse around the house...
Mrs. Karen
Diane Woodhull
Karen and I have eight children
between us. Four boys and four girls. They are:
Anastasia "Stacy" (age 31), James
"Darth Vader" (age 26), Keiska "Keeka Mree" (age
25), Melody
"Melodrama" (age 24), Ian "Mister
Saturday Night" (age 22), Brandy "Brandy-Boo" (age 21),
Timothy "Rain Man" (age 17), and
last (but not least)...Joshua "Resident Evil" (age 11). We
also have three
grandchildren. They are:
Enrique "Ricky Ricardo" (age 5), Ashton, "Shhton" (age 1), & Baylee "eBay", (age
1).
We also have an Schnauzer-Poodle mixed mutt
(a Schnoodle?)
named "Winston" and a dancing Apple Head
Chihuahua named "Charlie"
and a Bearded Dragon lizard named "Bob" (don't ask) plus some
nameless
varieties
of fish, doves, and finches. But who the heck names a fish or
bird anything? Oh, we also have a yet-to-be-
named rabbit, too. We also have two hairy tarantulas (which BETTER NOT get out of
their
cages, Timothy!)
Oh, and we can't forget all
the neighbors sheep, horses, peacocks and assorted cats and dogs that seem
to like
our property over theirs
also. And the fire ants. Sometimes I think I'm a fire ant rancher.
Yihaaaaaa!
